Giving with Impact
JULAHAS has always believed in the power of women to make great things happen. As a young, responsible brand that works largely with women artisans from rural villages in India, we have seen how women play a powerful role as a catalysts of change and drivers of progress. Women can break the cycle of poverty and become great role models for young girls.
If you make a women self-reliant and financially independent, you facilitate change in her community. When a woman is economically empowered, her children and community thrive.
Today, we kick off our campaign of giving,
in support of
UN Women's ongoing programme
Second Chance
We’ve chosen to launch our campaign on thanksgiving, that time of the year when we traditionally give thanks, because we believe that each of us has the power to keep giving, multifold.
With your help, we are encouraging women to dream big. JULAHAS pledges €5, a portion from every purchase you make, in support of UN Women's ongoing programme.
The funds will support UN Women’s implementing partners Manjari Foundation and PRADAN to provide 50 women from Jaisalmer in Rajasthan with vocational training, upskilling, design exposure, access to quality raw materials and finally, a market for their handcrafted product(s).
We couldn’t be more excited about this opportunity to work with these skilled but unorganised rural women artisans to refine their existing skills, give them self-reliance by finding stable, respectful and fair employment. By supporting UN Women’s ongoing programme Second Chance, we found a partner that has for years been helping women re-imagine their future. For a young, ethical brand like JULAHAS, this is one more way for us to have a direct, positive impact on lives.
UN Women's ongoing programme Second Chance
The UN Women’s Second Chance Education and Vocational Learning Programme aims to bring about transformative change in the lives of vulnerable and young women who have missed out on an education.
Through vocational training and meaningful learning, this programme provides women with access to employment pathways and entrepreneurship opportunities tailored to their future as earners.
Manjari Foundation, UN Women’s implementing partner, along with PRADAN, works with women in pockets of rural north India to create and sustain an enabling environment for long lasting change.
