Five elegant strands of hand-rolled paper beads come together in this statement necklace—each bead shaped, painted, and assembled by refugee and internally displaced women trained through our crafting partner Udiri’s artisan program in Lagos, Nigeria. The adjustable fabric tie at the back makes it easy to wear at varying lengths.

A symphony of texture and intention, the Layered Strand Necklace elevates both everyday and occasion looks. Its rich texture and layered silhouette pair beautifully with minimalist dresses, jumpsuits or even more cultural attire creating a harmonious yet striking blend of heritage and craft.

Though delicate in appearance, the Layered Strand Necklace is surprisingly sturdy and featherlight on the neck. Through Udiri’s innovative buy-back program, your purchase directly supports women artisans rebuilding their lives with skill, dignity, and creativity.

For one purchase you make, we plant one tree in your name. We send you an e-Tree Certificate with a code which links to a location marker showing where the tree was planted, so that you can trace your tree!

With our One for One model, in partnership with social enterprise Grow-Trees, we address community, women and nature. Tree planting generates employment for the village women, regulates the climate while improving the soil quality, which benefits farming communities.

The beads begin as recycled paper—cut, coiled with precision, and carefully sealed to create smooth, lightweight forms. Every piece is painted by hand, revealing natural variations and texture that make each necklace truly one of a kind.

The strands are anchored by a soft collar crafted from off-cut batik fabric scraps—adding pattern, color, and comfort. For structure, the collar is reinforced with a lining made from scraped cellulose fiber Kraft paper, and finished with an adjustable fabric tie at the back.
